What is Earthing? Why is it so Important? Earthing in Enclosure?
Friday, March 10, 2023
Earthing is the joining of non-stressed metal parts of electrically operated machines with the ground utilizing a conductor. This application aims to keep the current that will pass to the human body at a minimum level in case of an error current such as a short circuit that may occur in the machines. At the same time, the operation of the protection devices in the circuit is ensured by grounding. Thus, the defective part is quickly disabled. In addition to ensuring the protection of human life, another of the most important benefits of earthing is that it prevents machines from being damaged and allows continuity. In this way, the excess electrical current that may occur in the device is transmitted to the ground with the ground line with extremely low resistance and the risk of damage to the people touching the device is eliminated.
Why Is Earthing So Important?
All enterprises must have a properly designed and regularly maintained earthing system to be monitored by fault currents. If the earthing is not done, there may be material damage and the accidents that occur can seriously affect human life. Likewise, weak earthing can cause big harm. The earthing system; is to establish a conductive connection between certain points of enclosures, devices, and machines and the ground electrode. Since the ground electrode, also known as an earthing, or conductive part, is buried, an electrical connection is created with the ground. Thus, with this conductive connection between the devices and the ground, the device body is grounded and the insulation failures that may occur in the devices are prevented. Thanks to earthing, a possible fault current flows directly into the ground.
However, if no earthing is done, the fault current passes directly to the people who touch the malfunctioning device. When the earthing is not done properly, the risk of failure of the devices and machines as well as the danger of electric shock increases. In addition, equipment may fail, unwanted voltage and current changes may occur, or power factor issues may occur. The earthing system transmits the fault current to the ground with the help of a conductor. A good earthing system not only ensures safety but also helps to prevent damage and fires to both the earthing plant and equipment.
How Is The Earthing In Tekpan Enclosure?
We take care to prepare Tekpan enclosures to serve in every special situation and condition, so we continue to move forward by constantly renewing and improving ourselves. As in all other subjects, we improve our product characteristics by calculating all possibilities in earthing. In our active floor standing enclosures, the earthing tabs on the aluminum corner joiner are mounted tightly and abrasively on the unpainted inner surface of the profiles. Thus, earthing continuity is ensured in all profiles and the parts to be installed on them. The conductive surface is increased thanks to the special earthing screw applied to the front door and upper and lower inner parts. Thus, the front door, which is the most important part to be grounded, is grounded much more effectively. Thanks to the earthing screws applied in all other covers, all the covers of the panel have the ability to be fully grounded. In our new compact panels, we are happy and proud to take safety to the next level by adding an earthing contact part on the mounting plate to ensure earthing integrity.
